Top 5 Terraces – West London

Clerkenwell Boy, London’s favourite restaurant insider, known for his anonymity (who is Clerkenwell Boy?) and stylish food-focused Instagram posts, has built up quite the cult following. Always informed on the latest and greatest restaurants, he’s an Olympia ambassador, and perfectly positioned to give his recommendations on where to dine outside in West London this summer.

He’s given us his top five terraces, along with a recommendation of what to order there.

The River Café
Hammersmith

This iconic London institution is the perfect place for an alfresco lunch on a summer’s day.

Order the grilled squid and chilli salad, fresh pasta with wood fired langoustines, and save room for the lemon tart and chocolate nemesis cake.

Dorian
Notting Hill

Michelin-starred local eatery with great vibes, a solid wine list and top quality ingredients. They have a few white tablecloth-clad tables on the pavement at the front.

Order the lobster French toast, rosti and caviar bites, plus incredible steak to share.

Eve Kensington
Kensington

Located inside Ember Locke hotel in Kensington, newcomer Eve serves Middle Eastern & Mediterranean-inspired dishes with a lighter modern twist. The light-filled conservatory and summery garden terrace are great places to escape from the hustle and hustle of London life.

We love the ZFC (zaatar fried chicken) with zhoug mayo, roasted mushroom skewers, and Zhoug stonebass with smoked tomato chickpeas. Save room for the Halva ice cream choux with sesame butterscotch & hazelnuts.

Belvedere
Holland Park

This is a beautiful Italian restaurant located in London’s Holland Park with an outdoor terrace upstairs.

Order the calamari fritti, veal tonnato, signature beetroot ravioli with smoked burrata, and save room for the chef’s special Sardinian cannoli with chocolate and pistachios.

Scott’s Richmond
Richmond

The Mayfair institution has a new outpost in Richmond. The stunning interiors are perfect for winter but the upstairs terrace is THE PLACE to be in the summer. Overlooking the river, it’s the perfect place for a seafood feast.

Order the grilled seafood platter with a chilled bottle of bubbly.

Petersham Nurseries
Richmond

Part nursery, part homeware store (with stunning furniture, glasses and ceramics), and part restaurant/café, Petersham Nurseries is an ideal location for an Italian spring or summer feast.

Order the fresh pasta and salads, but save room for the tart of the day.
