Love Olympia - INTERVIEW

The Jacksons, co-founded in 1998 by costume designer Louise Jackson and her sister Joey Jackson, have a boutique on All Saints Road in Notting Hill stocked with accessories and clothing from across the globe. They’re best known for their sustainable jute woven bags, made with artisans in Bangladesh who they pay directly, giving them independence through employment. They began working with 100 women and now employ over 1,500 people year round, with a further 4,000 being offered work opportunities.

Louise has kindly shared with us a few of her local favourite things.

Where is your boutique and how long has it been there?

You can find us at 5 All Saints Road, London, W11 1HA and we have been here for over 20 years.

What’s special to you about this area?

The community. I have been here so long that I have built up a wonderful network of friends and neighbours (including all the businesses on All Saints Road). It always takes ages to walk to get a cup of coffee, as I am always stopping and chatting.

What are some of your favourite restaurants in the area?

For coffee or a drink and a catch up, The Tin Shed is my go-to. Lunch at The Pelican is always heavenly.

If you are going to celebrate, where do you go?

Essenza for bellinis and pasta.

Do you have a favourite weekend lunch spot?

I live a stone’s throw from The Angelsea Arms Pub and inevitably end up there at some point over the weekend.

Who is in your local little black book for wellbeing?

Antonia Adeniji at The Practice Centre on All Saints Road for physio or everything and anything. I cannot recommend anyone more. Even if I had a cold, I would make my way to her. And of course my weekly fix at KEM Nail Bar.

Are there any other local businesses/venues that you can’t live without?

Again, The Tin Shed. My second office.

Do you have an insider local tip to tell us?

Friday 8am Golborne road for bits and pieces –  it just makes me happy.

What are your favourite local green spaces/parks?

Kensington Gardens without any people.

Anything else you want to tell us about the area?

We are a tight-knit community. I love coming into Notting Hill and hanging out with my friends all week. Our friend Jess Collett made a lot of hats and tiaras for the Coronation this year; everyone on the street celebrated on her behalf. I think everyone in the area was more excited about that than other celebrations happening that weekend.

New arrivals from Louise’s favourite brands are now in store at The Jacksons Boutique, 5 All Saints Road, W11.
